Compounds
Each milliliter of Oxytocin Rooyan contains 10 International Units of synthetic oxytocin.

Mechanism of the Effect
Oxytocin, by activating the enzyme guanylyl cyclase, increases the movement of sodium ions from cell to cell, causing a wave of neural depolarization in the smooth muscles of the uterus, which ultimately leads to myometrial contractions. Physiologically, oxytocin plays an important role in estrus, sperm motility, and fertilized egg movement, and it assists in parturition in most animal species. Oxytocin also causes contraction of the myoepithelial cells of the mammary gland (basket cells), and by contracting the alveoli, it facilitates milk ejection.

Use case
Assistance and facilitation of natural labor (if the cervix is dilated)
Aid in placental expulsion (if its attachments are loosened)
Assistance in uterine involution after parturition in most livestock
Dystocia (at moderate doses and under direct veterinary supervision)
Milk ejection and treatment of agalactia-related mammary gland tumors after delivery
Pyometra and metritis, hemorrhage, uterine weakness, and decreased uterine activity

The amount and how to use
Oxytocin Rooyan injection is administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly, and intravenous injection should be done slowly and in coordination with the animal’s needs and response.
For milk ejection:
Cat: 1–10 International Units
Dog: 2–10 International Units
Sheep: 5–20 International Units
Cattle: 10–20 International Units
Horse: 10–20 International Units
For obstetric use and assistance in labor:
Cat: 5–10 International Units
Dog: 5–25 International Units
Sheep: 30–50 International Units
Cattle: 75–150 International Units
Horse: 75–150 International Units

Caution
The use of oxytocin in pregnant animals should be avoided.

Drug interference
Concurrent use with adrenergic antagonists may reduce the effect of oxytocin.
Strong analgesics or anesthetics can decrease uterine contractions and reduce the efficacy of oxytocin.
Simultaneous use with reproductive hormonal drugs should be done under veterinary consultation.
Oxytocin receptor antagonists may weaken its effects.

Maintenance conditions
Store at a temperature between 2–8°C, away from light, and in a dry place.
