Mechanism of the Effect
Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis in microorganisms by binding to the 30S subunit of the ribosome, thereby stopping bacterial growth (it is a bacteriostatic antibiotic). Doxycycline is effective against gram-negative bacteria, including species of Pasteurella, Salmonella, and E. coli, as well as gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Clostridium, and various other microorganisms including Mycoplasma, Rickettsia, Chlamydia, and some protozoa.
Use case
MegaDox 20 – MEGA Dox 20 is used for the prevention and treatment of colibacillosis, CRD caused by Mycoplasma, joint infections, pasteurellosis (avian cholera), necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium, infectious coryza caused by Haemophilus, airsacculitis, salmonellosis, and staphylococcal infections.
The amount and how to use
In broiler poultry, administer 10 to 20 mg of pure doxycycline per kilogram of live body weight daily for 3 to 5 consecutive days via drinking water. (This amount is equivalent to 43 to 87 ml of the medication per 1000 kg of flock live weight daily.) Practically, 250 to 500 ml of MegaDox 20 – MEGA Dox 20 solution can be mixed into 1000 liters of drinking water.
Caution
Keep out of reach of children.
Drug interference
It interacts with cations, beta-lactams, and florfenicol.
Maintenance conditions
Store in a dry place, at a temperature between 15 to 30 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight, and in tightly closed containers.
