Mechanism of the Effect
Colistin is a polypeptide antibiotic from the polymyxin group. It disrupts the structure of the bacterial cell membrane by interacting with the phospholipids, leading to membrane disintegration. This causes changes in permeability inside bacterial cells, ultimately resulting in bacterial death. Since colistin is poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, it has a significant effect on gastrointestinal infections. Drug resistance among gram-negative bacteria in the digestive system to colistin is very rare.
Use case
ColiCiroR is highly effective against gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Haemophilus, Pseudomonas, and others. It is used for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to colistin in poultry, calves, and lambs.
The amount and how to use
Poultry:
250 milliliters of the solution per 1000 liters of drinking water for 3 consecutive days
(Equivalent to 75,000 International Units per kilogram of body weight daily for 3 consecutive days).
Calves and lambs:
0.25 milliliters of the solution per 10 kilograms of body weight, twice daily for 3 to 5 consecutive days
(Equivalent to 50,000 International Units of ColiCiro® per kilogram of body weight every 12 hours).

When preparing the solution, always wear protective clothing, impermeable gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask.
In case of contact of ColiCiro® with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
Drug interference
1. تداخل با سایر آنتی‌بیوتیک‌ها
تتراسایکلین‌ها و کلرامفنیکل: ممکن است با اثر باکتری‌کش کلوگزاسیلین یا جنتامایسین تداخل کنند (با مکانیسم باکتری‌استاتیک‌شان).
سایر آمینوگلیکوزیدها (مانند نئومایسین، استرپتومایسین): همزمانی باعث افزایش سمیت کلیوی و گوشی می‌شود.
سفالوسپورین‌ها یا سایر پنی‌سیلین‌ها: گاهی تجویز همزمان برای تقویت اثر انجام می‌شود، ولی باید با احتیاط باشد چون ممکن است باعث رقابت برای گیرنده‌ها شود یا عوارض افزایش یابد.
2. تداخل با داروهای کلیه‌سم (Nephrotoxic)
همزمانی با داروهایی مانند:
فوروزماید (داروی مدر)
پلی‌میکسین B
NSAIDs (ضدالتهاب‌های غیراستروئیدی مانند فلونیکسین یا ملوکسیکام)
می‌تواند باعث افزایش خطر نارسایی کلیوی شود، به‌خصوص به دلیل وجود جنتامایسین در کلی‌سیرو.
3. تداخل با بی‌حس‌کننده‌ها و داروهای فلج عضلانی
جنتامایسین می‌تواند اثر داروهای فلج عضلانی (muscle relaxants) مانند ساکسینیل‌کولین را تقویت کند. این نکته در بی‌هوشی دام‌های بزرگ اهمیت دارد.
4. تداخل با مواد خوراکی و معدنی
کلوگزاسیلین ممکن است در حضور فلزات سنگین (کلسیم، منیزیم، آلومینیوم) در خوراک، جذبش کاهش یابد (در صورت مصرف خوراکی).
جنتامایسین معمولاً به‌صورت تزریقی مصرف می‌شود و جذب خوراکی ندارد.
