Mechanism of the Effect

This drug belongs to the tetracycline group and is a bacteriostatic antibacterial agent effective against a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as chlamydiae, mycoplasmas, rickettsiae, and some protozoa. Chlortetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to bacterial ribosomes.

Use case

This drug is used for the control and treatment of respiratory and systemic infections caused by organisms sensitive to tetracycline in poultry, turkeys, calves, and lambs.

The amount and how to use

Based on the active ingredient:

Poultry:

20–30 mg of chlortetracycline per kilogram of body weight daily.

Turkeys:

10–30 mg of chlortetracycline per kilogram of body weight daily.

Calves and lambs:

10–20 mg of chlortetracycline per kilogram of body weight daily.

The treatment duration is 5–7 days (depending on age, weight, type, and severity of the disease).

Caution

This drug is for veterinary use only. Keep out of reach of children. When preparing the solution, always wear protective clothing, impermeable gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask. In case of contact of Clodisol® with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

Drug interference

Avoid concurrent use with bactericidal antibiotics such as penicillins, cephalosporins, and others.

The use of cations like magnesium, manganese, iron, and aluminum with tetracycline group antibiotics reduces their effectiveness due to chelate formation.

Maintenance conditions

Store in a dry and cool place, below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, and in the original tightly closed containers.

Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture.
