Compounds
Aftofin is a 100% natural product formulated from the active ingredients found in peppermint, myrtle, and several other medicinal plants. Among the key active compounds in this product are flavonoids.

Mechanism of the Effect
Aftofin is a naturally derived product that is rich in active compounds such as phenols (phenolic acids), tannins (proanthocyanidins), and flavonoids. These components contribute to its therapeutic effects.
Key Active Components and Their Actions:
Antioxidants: The product contains potent antioxidants like anthocyanins, which actively combat the harmful effects of oxidation reactions and free radicals.
Phenols: Caffeic acid and gallic acid are notable phenolic compounds present. Both exhibit strong antioxidant properties, helping to neutralize toxic free radicals at the site of inflammation and wounds.
Flavonols: Flavonols from myrtle extract, such as myricetin, quercetin, and catechin, provide both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.
Menthol: Another active ingredient, menthol, offers multiple benefits including anti-inflammatory effects, pain relief, and inducing a cooling sensation at the site of inflammation.
How Aftofin Works (Fourfold Action):
Aftofin improves the condition of animals suffering from microbial infections and mucosal lesions through four main mechanisms:
Pain Relief and Stress Reduction: By alleviating pain and reducing the temperature at the site of inflammation and infection, Aftofin helps calm the animal, reduce stress, and restore appetite. This leads to better nutrition and overall strengthening of the animal.
Direct Antiviral Action: Certain herbal components in Aftofin, such as alpha-pinene, have direct antiviral effects. This helps reduce the viral load and minimizes damage to body cells caused by viruses.
Free Radical Neutralization: The powerful antioxidants in Aftofin, particularly phenolic acids and anthocyanins, neutralize toxic free radicals present at the site of inflammation and wounds. Both viral proliferation and free radicals are major factors preventing mucosal wound healing; by inhibiting these, Aftofin creates a conducive environment for wound recovery.
Stimulation of Repair Cells: The herbal compounds in Aftofin stimulate repair cells, such as fibroblasts. This promotes the migration of fibroblasts to the wound site, leading to the production of collagen and elastin. Consequently, connective tissue gradually forms at the wound site, facilitating its repair and healing.

Use case
Aftofin is an healing agent and treatment for blisters, rashes, and infected wounds on the skin, lips, mouth, and mucous membranes caused by viruses (e.g., Foot-and-Mouth Disease), bacteria, fungi, and secondary infections. It also treats hoof lesions and contagious ecthyma (Orf) in sheep (as symptomatic treatment).
