Packaging

1000-dose vial

Compounds

Each vaccine dose contains a minimum of TCID50.

Mechanism of the Effect

The vaccine contains a live, attenuated Reovirus.

After injection or administration, the attenuated virus undergoes limited replication within the animal or poultry’s body, stimulating the immune system.

This stimulation leads to the production of antibodies and immune memory cells, which, upon exposure to the actual virus, prevent the onset of disease.

Use case

BIO-VAC REO, a live lyophilized vaccine against Viral Arthritis, is administered as a prime vaccine in breeder flocks against Viral Arthritis disease.

To achieve the best results in controlling Viral Arthritis in breeder flocks and their progeny, it is recommended to first use the live vaccine during the rearing period, followed by an inactivated (killed) vaccine before the onset of production in breeder flocks.

The amount and how to use

Approximately 2 to 4 ml of diluent should be added to the lyophilized vaccine vial until the contents are completely dissolved.

As soon as the contents of the vaccine vial are dissolved, this solution should be added to the bottle containing the rest of the diluent. After all contents are dissolved, the vaccine solution must be injected subcutaneously in the back of the neck within one hour.

Each vaccine dose is 0.2 ml of the final prepared vaccine solution. In high-risk areas or areas where there is a risk of early-age infection, three injections of BIO-VAC REO vaccine are recommended at 7 to 8 days of age, 6 weeks, and 10 weeks of age, respectively.

With such a vaccination program, which is ultimately completed with a dose of inactivated vaccine in breeder pullet flocks at 17 to 18 weeks of age and before the onset of egg production, the breeder flocks will be fully immunized against viral arthritis during the rearing and production periods. This also provides good protection against reovirus in their progeny through the transfer of maternal antibodies.

Caution

Only use in healthy animals or poultry showing no signs of disease.

Store the vaccine at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and prevent it from freezing.

Once the vial is opened, the vaccine must be used quickly, and any remainder should be discarded.

Avoid concurrent use with immunosuppressive drugs.

During vaccination, use sterile equipment and syringes.

Store the vaccine away from direct light and heat.

Drug interference

Concurrent use with immunosuppressive drugs (e.g., corticosteroids) may reduce the vaccine’s effectiveness.

Simultaneous administration with antibiotics or antiviral medications may weaken the immune response to the vaccine.

Concurrent use with other live vaccines should only be carried out with a veterinarian’s consultation and appropriate timing.

Disinfectants in water or vaccination equipment can inactivate the live vaccine virus.

Maintenance conditions

Store between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
