Packaging

10 mL vial

Compounds

Gonadorelin acetate

Mechanism of the Effect

This drug is transported to the pituitary gland through the portal venous circulation and stimulates the anterior part of the gland to increase the secretion of gonadotropins — follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) — which promote follicle development and corpus luteum formation in females, and spermatogenesis in males. The onset of action is approximately 2 hours, and its half-life is less than 3 hours. During this time, the peptide is broken down into amino acids and eliminated from the tissues.

Drug interference

Concurrent use with other hormonal drugs (such as progesterone or estrogens) may alter the effects of gonadorelin.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can reduce the hormonal response to gonadorelin.

Simultaneous use with immunosuppressive agents may weaken the therapeutic response.

Always consult a veterinarian before co-administering medications to avoid potential interactions.
