Packaging

Vial: 10 ml

Compounds

Each milliliter contains 0.075 mg of D-Cloprostenol Sodium.

Mechanism of the Effect

D-Cloprostenol sodium is a synthetic analog of prostaglandin F2α and exhibits all its effects. D-Clo PG causes contraction of the myometrium, relaxation of the cervix, and reduction in uterine volume. Upon contact with a mature corpus luteum, it induces luteolysis both scientifically and morphologically. (This action leads to estrus in the animal within 2 to 5 days after injection).

Use case

D-Clo PG (D-Cloprostenol Sodium) is usable in horses and cattle.

Indications for use in cattle include:

Luteolysis (regression of the corpus luteum), leading to ovulation and estrus onset in non-pregnant dairy cows with active ovaries

Use in estrus synchronization programs along with GnRH analogs

Treatment of chronic ovarian tumors or luteal cysts

Treatment of endometritis (inflammation of the uterine lining)

Increasing the contractile strength of the uterine muscle (myometrium)

Induction of abortion and termination of pregnancy

Treatment of uterine infections

Relief of uterine discomfort and diseases after parturition

Treatment of silent heat (estrus without obvious signs)

Each milliliter contains 0.075 mg of D-cloprostenol sodium, a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2α, which causes myometrial contractions, cervical relaxation, and regression of the corpus luteum.

The amount and how to use

D-Clo PG (D-Cloprostenol Sodium) is administered via intramuscular injection.

Cattle: 2 milliliters per dose

Horse: 1 milliliter per dose

Caution

Use cautiously in the treatment of pyometra if the cervix is closed, as there is a risk of uterine rupture leading to peritonitis.

PGF2α can be absorbed through the skin; therefore, pregnant women and individuals with asthma should handle it carefully due to the risk of bronchospasm.

In case of skin contact, wash the area thoroughly with soap and water and use bronchodilator medications if necessary.

In horses, possible side effects include sweating, increased heart rate, and abdominal pain.

These drugs are expected to be effective in animals with an active corpus luteum.

Drug interference

Concurrent use with prostaglandin antagonist drugs may reduce the effect of cloprostenol.

Simultaneous use with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may weaken the prostaglandin effect of cloprostenol.

Concurrent use with hormonal or reproductive drugs should be done cautiously and under veterinary supervision.

Maintenance conditions

The drug should be stored at a temperature between 15-25 °C and kept away from light.
