Compounds
Each milliliter of the product contains 2 million international units (IU) of colistin (sulfate).

Mechanism of the Effect
Colistin is an antibiotic from the polymyxin class. It inhibits the oxidative metabolism of bacteria and, by acting on the bacterial membrane and altering its permeability, leads to rapid bacterial death. Unlike many antibiotics that are only effective during bacterial growth, colistin is effective in both active and dormant phases of bacterial life. Resistance to colistin is rare, and it is not absorbed from the intestines following oral administration.

Use case
Colistin is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and other infections resulting from bacteria sensitive to colistin in poultry.
Additionally, colistin can be used synergistically with many other antibiotics, including erythromycin, clindamycin, bacitracin, and sulfonamides.

The amount and how to use
Calves, lambs, and kids:
100,000 IU per kilogram of body weight every 12 hours, administered in drinking water or mixed with milk replacer feed. This is equivalent to 0.25 mL of the solution per 10 kg of live weight, twice daily for 3 to 4 consecutive days.
Poultry and turkeys:
75,000 IU per kilogram of body weight per day for 3 days, administered via drinking water. This corresponds to 0.25 mL of the product per liter of drinking water for 3 days.

Caution
Store in a dry place, at a temperature of 15 to 30°C, away from direct sunlight, and in tightly closed containers.
Keep the medicine out of reach of children.
After the first use, the product can be used for up to 1 month.
Medicated water should be consumed within 24 hours.

Drug interference
Kleystop (containing clindamycin and spectinomycin) interacts with macrolides and other lincosamides, and concurrent use may lead to increased toxicity or reduced therapeutic effectiveness. It may also increase the risk of side effects when used with neurotoxic or nephrotoxic drugs.

Maintenance conditions
Store in a dry place, at a temperature between 15 and 30°C, away from direct sunlight, and in tightly closed containers.
