Compounds

Doxycycline (Hyclate) 50 g
Excipients (Carriers) Up to 100 g

Mechanism of the Effect

Doxycycline binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and prevents the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosomal acceptor site.

This inhibits protein synthesis in the bacteria and stops its growth and reproduction.

The drug has a bacteriostatic effect and is effective against a broad spectrum of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Use case

Colibacillosis, CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease), mycoplasmosis, and other conditions sensitive to doxycycline.

The amount and how to use

In poultry, 50 to 100 mg of pure doxycycline per liter of drinking water is administered for 3 to 5 days. (This amount is equivalent to 100 to 200 grams of Doxbrom product per 1000 liters of drinking water daily.) During the treatment period, birds should only use medicated water as their source of drinking water.

The precise dose based on weight in poultry is 10–20 mg of pure doxycycline per kilogram of body weight per day, which is equivalent to 20–40 mg of Doxbrom product per kilogram of body weight per day.

Caution

Do not use in animals sensitive to tetracyclines to avoid allergic reactions.

Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation, unless prescribed by a veterinarian.

Avoid simultaneous use with supplements containing calcium, magnesium, aluminum, or iron, as they reduce drug absorption.

Prolonged or excessive use may disrupt the natural gut flora and lead to bacterial resistance.

Store the medication in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight, and out of reach of children and animals.

Drug interference

Reduced absorption when used with supplements containing calcium, iron, magnesium, and aluminum.

Decreased effectiveness when combined with other antibiotics (such as penicillins).

Increased risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant drugs.

Increased risk of kidney toxicity when used concurrently with NSAIDs.

Maintenance conditions

Veterinary medicine Doxbrom should be stored in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight, at a temperature below 25°C. It must be protected from freezing and kept out of reach of children and animals.
