Amoxicillin trihydrate 500 mg β-lactam (aminopenicillin) Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis (binds PBPs)
Equivalent pure amoxicillin 436 mg — —

Mechanism of the Effect
Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic, time-dependent, bactericidal antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis during replication. It binds irreversibly to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), disrupting peptidoglycan cross-linking, which leads to cell lysis and bacterial death.
It is a broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those with lipopolysaccharide- and protein-rich outer membranes.
Pharmacokinetic Highlights:
Well absorbed orally, with good stability in gastric acid
Widely distributed in body fluids and tissues
Primarily excreted unchanged via the kidneys, ensuring high urinary concentrations

Use case
Amoxicillin trihydrate is used in chickens and turkeys for the treatment of gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urinary tract infections caused by amoxicillin-sensitive bacteria, including:
Campylobacter
Clostridium
Escherichia coli (E. coli)
Erysipelothrix
Haemophilus
Pasteurella
Salmonella
Staphylococcus
Streptococcus

The amount and how to use
Species Dosage (per kg body weight/day) Water-Based Dosage Duration
Broilers, pullets, breeders 15 mg amoxicillin trihydrate (≈13.1 mg pure amoxicillin) → ≈30 mg product 400 g in 1000–2000 L drinking water 3 days (up to 5 in severe cases)
Turkeys 15–20 mg amoxicillin trihydrate (≈13.1–17.4 mg pure amoxicillin) → ≈30–40 mg product 400–533 g in 1000–2000 L drinking water 3 days (up to 5 in severe cases)
Ducks 20 mg amoxicillin trihydrate (≈17.4 mg pure amoxicillin) → 40 mg product — 3 consecutive days
> 💧 Important: Any medicated water remaining after 12 hours must be discarded to ensure potency and prevent microbial resistance

Caution
Use the product within 6 months after opening the packaging.
Once dissolved in drinking water, the solution must be used within 12 hours.
After opening, seal the container tightly to prevent moisture ingress and preserve product quality.

Drug interference
Do not co-administer with bacteriostatic antibiotics such as tetracyclines, macrolides, or sulfonamides, as they may antagonize the bactericidal effect of amoxicillin by interfering with its mechanism of action—inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis during active replication2.
Avoid concurrent use with neomycin, as it can block the gastrointestinal absorption of amoxicillin, reducing its bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy

Maintenance conditions
Store at a temperature between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place, and do not refrigerate.
