Compounds
Each gram of Fish Floral 50 Rooyan® powder contains 500 mg of the active ingredient florfenicol.
Note: Use under veterinary supervision for appropriate dosing and to ensure safety in aquatic species. Follow storage guidelines (15–30°C, away from light, in sealed containers) and keep out of reach of children.

Mechanism of the Effect
Florfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing bacterial growth. At higher concentrations, it can be bactericidal against some bacteria. Florfenicol is effective against many gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria that cause disease in aquatic animals, such as Aeromonas salmonicida (the agent of furunculosis), Vibrio salmonicida, Edwardsiella ictaluri, and various Streptococcus species.

Use case
Fish Floral 50 Rooyan® is used in fish for the treatment of bacterial diseases that are sensitive to florfenicol.
Fish Floral 50 Rooyan® is indicated for the treatment of Edwardsiellosis, Pasteurellosis, Streptococcosis, enteric septicemia, cold water disease, columnaris disease, myxobacterial stomatitis, and rickettsial infections.

The amount and how to use
The standard dosage of florfenicol mixed into aquatic feed is 10 mg per kg of fish body weight, administered daily by incorporating it into the feed. The duration of treatment is 10 consecutive days.
Feeding is adjusted based on the fish biomass and the concentration of florfenicol in the feed, such that the final administered dose equals 10 mg of florfenicol per kg of fish.
Florfenicol 50% Dosage Table for Aquatic Feed (10-Day Treatment)
Total weight of treated fish (kg) | Amount of 50% Florfenicol per ton of feed (kg) | Feeding rate (% of biomass) |
---|---|---|
20,000 | 4 | 0.5% |
10,000 | 2 | 1% |
5,000 | 1 | 2% |
3,333 | 0.66 | 3% |
2,000 | 0.4 | 5% |
This dosing strategy ensures that each fish receives 10 mg of florfenicol per kg of body weight daily, administered via feed for a duration of 10 consecutive days.

Caution
Keep out of reach of children.
When mixing with fish feed, wear gloves, protective goggles, and chemically resistant masks.
Once mixed into fish feed, the medicated feed remains stable for up to 3 months.

Drug interference
According to available data, concurrent use of Fish Floral Rooyan (florfenicol 50%) with certain other medications may reduce its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects. These include:
Macrolide antibiotics such as erythromycin and tylosin
Lincosamides such as lincomycin and clindamycin
Penicillins and aminoglycosides such as gentamicin
These drugs may interact with florfenicol, potentially diminishing its bactericidal effect or contributing to the development of antimicrobial resistance.

Maintenance conditions
Store at temperatures below 30°C, in a dry place, and protected from direct sunlight.
